Wheatgerm Fish Foods
| Wheatgerm Fish Foods Winter feeding can be a particularly difficult question, in a classic Winter period where the temperature drops in the Autumn, stays low in the Winter and then rises in the Spring, your fish will go into a state of "Torpor". A Torpid state is not quite hibernation, but greatly reduces the fishes metabolism and helps them to survive on their fat reserves. The problem comes where the winter temperatures are more erratic. With warmer temperature causing the fish to become more active start to look for food (thinking spring has arrived), it can be dangerous to allow them to eat food which they can not fully digest or will cause them to produce more waste than your pond can dilute. If need or would like to feed during an extended warm winter period, you should use a specialist Winter food or one based on Wheatgerm. But whatever you feed, be very careful not to pollute the pond. |
